Skybridge was born out of the realization that we were overlooking an entire “mission” force. There are church members attending church all over the world and working daily in business and professional offices, schools and hospitals, but are not being challenged to intentionally integrate their work and faith. Many of us have forever seen living “on mission” as a job that someone else with a “special calling from God” does. Coming to a fresh understanding of what it means for everyone to participate in the Great Commission of Christ, we looked for a way to facilitate the connection between vocation and mission.
The Skybridge community was launched in 2009 as part of The Upstream Collective and was focused on Europe. Over the last few years, Skybridge has seen hundreds of people decide to live and work globally, on purpose. They have been involved in sharing the gospel, planting churches, making disciples and working with Great Commission field mission teams. Skybridge often played a key role in equipping, connecting and encouraging these secular workers as they sought to integrate their work and mission, whether engaging cross culturally in their home culture or living abroad.
Today Skybridge is a global community of nearly 1000 members, committed to the vision of following alternative pathways to mission and striving to integrate their Life.Work.Purpose.
